In 1981 I finished my undergraduate studies in Memphis and moved back to Nashville. I started a freelance job there which eventually became influential on my figurative sculpture.
This freelance job evolved into
somewhat of a Mom and Pop family business, making life-size wax figures for the now defunct Country Music Wax Museum, and later for the Country Music Wax Museum in Tamworth, Australia, which is still open I believe, and other odd places.
Before taking on this work, I'd never worked sculpturally with the
human figure. Most of my
early figurative training
stems from this experience
with wax.
